This is what we'd like you to do:
As the Vice President of Account Resolution, you will be responsible for leading the account resolution (collections) team. You will assist the Chief Lending Officer (CLO) in the strategic planning process and budget development to achieve the credit union’s long and short-term goals and strategic objectives. You are responsible to guide team to present options and solutions to members and ensure quality and compliant collection and member resolution activity. You will also be responsible for establishing credit collection policies, practices, and procedures with the overarching goal of maintaining credit union and department established loss prevention and loss mitigation goals. Ensures all team members support Kirtland Credit Union’s (KCU) mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.
These are what your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Partners with CLO in ownership of KCU’s loss mitigation and loss prevention program.
- Assists the CLO in developing strategic objectives, short and long-term goals, and plans for the account resolution department.
- Partners with CLO for analysis of delinquent and charged off portfolio and utilizes data to develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Executes performance analysis and established operational goals and objectives that ensures corporate-wide plans are complemented and supported.
- Oversees monthly loan charge off recommendations.
- Assumes responsibility for effectively leading account resolution staff, ensuring optimal performance.
- Provides leadership to staff through effective collection strategies and objective goal setting, delegation, and communication. Directs, manages, and coordinates the workflow of collection staff. Ensures employees are well trained, effective, and optimally used.
- Develop team members and build bench-strength through continually assessing and providing discerning development, insightful coaching, and talent utilization/optimization for team. Responsible for succession planning activities for the department.
- Oversee daily activities of the department staff to ensure proper and timely response and handling of all member accounts in non-performing status.
- Provides supervision of daily default resolution tactics pertaining to vehicle repossession and liquidation, bankruptcy, foreclosure, real estate owned (REO) liquidation and collections litigation support.
- Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of collection policies, procedures, and planning.
- Partner with KCU’s data teams to review delinquency and recovery forecasts for performance discussions and budgets.
- Partners with legal counsel in all court complaints and post judgment actions including garnishments, supplemental orders, and other legal actions, including attending court settlements.
- Assumes responsibility for the effective administration and performance of collection functions.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relationships are established and maintained with members, the community, and with trade and governmental organizations.
Required Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of collections, servicing, foreclosure, bankruptcy procedures, and legal requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle repossession/liquidation, bankruptcy laws and lender’s rights, post charge-off remedies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of creditor obligations according to, but not limited to: UDAAP, FDCPA, FCRA, CFPB, TCPA and UCC.
- Experienced negotiator skilled in debt settlement.
- Proficient knowledge of lending programs, policies, and default enforcement clauses.
- General knowledge of credit underwriting practices.
Can you to bring to the table:
- Minimum of seven years of progressive collections experience.
- Minimum of five experience in collections management preferred.
- Experience establishing goals that align with strategic objectives.
- Demonstrated experience with coaching and developing a team.
- Demonstrated experience with driving results and meeting or exceeding goals.
- Experience in dealing with bankruptcy procedures.
- Experience with vendor management.
- Strong business acumen.
