CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Underwriter. The Associate Underwriter assists the Underwriter in the quoting, issuance, and maintenance of new and renewal business for a book of Large Account Workers Compensation policies. The Sr. Associate Underwriter owns overall process and workflow responsibility for new and renewal accounts. This position reviews and requests necessary underwriting information to facilitate policy quote, issuance, and maintenance. Additionally, the Sr. Associate Underwriter takes a leadership role within the AUs Team to ensure proper training of new hires, direct/answer questions from co-workers and participate in Peer Review of UW Files. This role will either be hybrid or full time remote based on location.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare quotes based on set criteria/thresholds/revisions and instructions from Underwriting
- Assist in reviewing quotes in rating system pre underwriting to ensure quality control for new and renewal business.
- Solicit renewal information from broker/agency to include sending required pre-renewal notifications.
- Quality assurance of below throughout the lifecycle of policy:
- Loss information in account summary. Underwriting platform/system
- Operations and exposures
- Pricing
- Premium Audits
- Endorsements
- Bind & Issue Policies:
- Post bind, complete necessary Underwriting notifications, bind reinsurance, tracks quote subjectivities and update various policy expiration activities including quotes that were not accepted for future new business pipelining.
- Review endorsement transactions, cancellation requests and non-renewals for forwarding to Underwriter or approval if within AU Guidelines.
- Complete special projects as assigned by manager and perform other duties as requested.
- Provide clear, timely and professional communication to agency personnel and other AUs.
- Assist AU Manager in ensuring written proper procedures are up to date.
- Work closely with other AUs in ongoing training, project management and review of UW Files.
- Handle larger book of business and complex accounts (loss sensitive – liaison).
Qualifications/Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related discipline i.e., Marketing, Finance, Business.
- Minimum 4 years of full-time work experience in insurance can be utilized on a year for year basis as a substitute for a degree.
- Knowledge and/or experience with commercial lines of insurance, i.e., classification and experience rating.
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication (both verbal and written).
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and problem solve.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to partner effectively with Underwriters.
Salary Range:
- $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 annually.
- Compensation may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
- In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
