Description
We are searching for a Staff Accountant to join our Tax team! The Staff applies a good working knowledge of fundamental tax laws, their applications and work paper organization and documentation to perform a variety of basic accounting functions on Tax client engagements. A Staff will contribute at the tactical level of client work to support the efficient, timely and correct work flow and production of client deliverables while adhering to production hour budgets. Initially given less complex accounting and tax assignments, such as basic individual and pass-through entity returns, the Staff's work progresses to more difficult assignments and greater responsibility with the goal of working autonomously and comprehensive understanding of the various software applications required.

What you'll do:
- Applies accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepares accurate work papers and tax returns for tax engagements in a timely and efficient basis.
- Coordinates tax preparation work and develops relationships with client contacts.
- Monitors the progress of engagements and communicates updates with senior management to resolve problems before they arise.
- Identifies tax savings opportunities and creates recommendations to discuss with the engagement team.
- Collaborates internally with management to develop a better understanding of tax strategies and interpret new tax law legislation.
- Assists in tax planning and projections for clients.
- Utilizes tax research software to make informed decisions and transform tax challenges into opportunities.
- Performs general accounting duties and completes special projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
What you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with no less than a 3.0 GPA, Master’s Degree preferred
- Working knowledge of GAAS, GAAP, and other professional standards and regulations
- Displays the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Basic accounting and auditing skills
- Interpersonal and business communication skills – verbal and written
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- CPA or pursuing a CPA
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 1 or more directly related years of experience in public accounting
