Reporting to the Manager, Customer Coverage, the Senior Analyst, Coverage Strategy is responsible for evaluating and synthesizing existing and emerging information to enhance sales coverage territories. You will participate as a key member of a high performing strategy team focused on evolving Grainger's sales coverage models to stay ahead of the competition, drive profitable growth, and maintain a best-in-class customer experience. You will also develop and continue to improve end-to-end scalable processes in partnership with operations, technology, sales, finance and analytics teams and influence change through clear and concise communication. This includes understanding coverage and customer segment strategies, building reporting or tools, and collaborating with business partners to understand changing market conditions to effectively allocate customers across sales territories. You will guide the development and measurement of key performance metrics to enable Grainger's strategic coverage roadmap. This position is Hybrid requiring 3 days per week onsite at the Lake Forest, IL headquarters of Downtown Chicago Merchandise Mart office.
You Will
- Independently maintain and take ownership for the management, quality and accuracy of all data and tools to support customer coverage strategy builds.
- Drive the development and creation of key performance metrics to measure and monitor business impact to the P&L with visual dashboard style reporting.
- Analyze large customer data sets to identify patterns, synthesize learnings and translate into actionable insights to support Strategy Managers.
- Work closely with coverage and sales leaders by using territory optimization tools to design, align and implement account changes.
- Collaborate closely with GTG, Reporting & Analytics, and CI to drive the development of scalable, durable processes; document specific data needs and recommendations.
- Consistently demonstrate strong attention to detail, business acumen, and successful time management across multiple workstreams.
You Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Analytics, Math, Finance or related fields.
- 2+ years of work experience in a B2C or B2B industry.
- 2+ years of experience in a related field.
- Strong strategic/innovative thinker grounded in analytics.
- Database management including advanced computer skills in Excel, Access, PowerPoint; experience with Power BI, Snowflake, SPSS, SQL, Python, R, VBA or Teradata are preferred.
- Strong information analysis and problem-solving ability.
- Strong analytical capabilities and demonstrated work with business metrics.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to translate information requests into practical outputs.
- Demonstrates curiosity, strong attention to detail, business acumen, and thoroughness in work.
- Displays a continuous improvement mindset and continually identifies ways to improve Coverage team processes.
- Displays good business judgment and willingness to make decisions and recommendations.
- Ability to take ownership of processes and propose opportunities for improvement.
- Ability to support communications for stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Able to collaborate and develop relationships across multiple functional areas.
- Ability to operate in a complex, rapidly changing environment while adhering to tight schedules and budgets.
