The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth impacts lives every day. We are a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are currently looking to expand our team by adding a Staff Accountant to our financial department. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organization. This position will focus on handling day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting the organization’s mission through diligent financial management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a passion for supporting a cause through sound financial stewardship.

Key Responsibilities
• General Ledger Management: Maintain the organization’s general ledger, ensuring accuracy in all transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll entries.
• Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and other reports as requested by the CFO, Controller, Finance Director, and Board of Directors.
• Budget and Forecast Monitoring: Assist in monitoring organizational budgets and forecasts, tracking expenditures, and ensuring that costs stay within approved limits.
• Audit Support: Assist with audit preparation and serve as a point of contact during the audit process.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, grant requirements, and nonprofit accounting standards, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize expenses to ensure accurate reporting for internal and external purposes.
• Reporting: Complete routine reporting related to cash, revenue and other financial measures.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Knowledge of fund accounting and nonprofit financial practices is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software and strong knowledge of Excel.
• Attention to Detail: Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information in an accessible way.
• Integrity: High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive financial data.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with nonprofit compliance and tax regulations (e.g., IRS Form 990).
• CPA or working towards CPA certification is a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth offers a competitive salary and benefits package for selected candidates. The yearly salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 and will be commensurate with the selected candidate's experience. The YMCA provides competitive health, dental, and vision benefits.
