Position Summary:
Hillwood Energy is currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team, responsible for investment underwriting, deal execution, and portfolio management activities. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the financial aspects of Hillwood Energy's investment endeavors, with a primary focus on our domestic portfolio. You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, offering substantial exposure to senior management. Reporting to an Associate with a dotted line reporting relationship to the VP of Finance, you will need to demonstrate a strong aptitude for quantitative analysis and modeling, coupled with practical business acumen. Our entrepreneurial culture provides diverse opportunities, including underwriting oil & gas prospects, financial structuring, equity and debt financing, and deal negotiation, much like what is typically encountered in a private equity environment. Responsibilities:
- Preparation of sophisticated financial models for acquisition and development of oil and gas investments
- Analysis of complex deal financing structures, as well as, stress testing the proposed structures
- Preparation of internal and external reports, as well as, various presentation materials
- Communicate with senior management regarding ongoing project status, variance reporting, and other performance metrics
- Support the Associate with other ad hoc projects and requests
Qualifications:
- Strong foundation in Accounting and Finance
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling
- Aptitude for financial analysis, especially financial modeling skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to confidently present in front of others
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; assuring accurate and timely delivery of materials to team members
- Strong work ethic, resourceful, with the ability to be flexible and multi-task
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks in order of priority
- Self-motivated individual who strives for excellence in their work product
- Desire to learn and collaborate in a small team; willingness to help outside primary job discipline as needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field (i.e.- business or math) with a strong academic performance
- Minimum of 1-3 years related work experience preferably within the banking, private equity or upstream oil and gas sectors
