What you will be doing
AVIA, a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) company and a subsidiary of Albertsons Companies has an opening for a Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst will assist in providing financial guidance, reporting, analytical support, key insights, and trends within the PBM operations, which is fueling growth for Albertsons Companies, Inc (ACI) pharmacy operations over the longer term. You will play a role in gathering, organizing, analyzing, reporting, and presenting information for both routine and special ad hoc assignments under varying amounts of guidance and direction. This role will interface with all levels of Division and Corporate staff in addressing financial questions, results, variances, processes, and procedures. You will play a pivotal role in analyzing and reporting data used to drive growth and productivity initiatives, business performance, and improved patient experience.
This position is open to different work locations in which we have operations for the right candidate (Pleasanton CA, Boise ID, Phoenix AZ, Dallas TX, Plano TX, and any of our main division or district offices). Boise, ID is the preferred location.
Main responsibilities
- Prepare monthly reports sent to the National Accounting Service Center (NASC) to be entered into financial ledger. Work closely with NASC A/R team to reconcile variances and discrepancies in payments versus receivables and research P&L questions.
- Reporting and Analysis - work closely with PBM Operations Manager and key stakeholders to develop and prepare performance tracking reports that highlight results vs. plan and forecast, analyze key performance indicators, articulate key insights and trends, and identify risks and opportunities.
- Drive a data-driven, data-mining analytical process of identifying variances from actual trends and planned/forecasted results, create actionable steps to course-correct and prepare presentations.
- Manage and leverage Access and SQL databases. Responsible for the design, development, performance improvements and administration of enhancements that may require new or updated database queries.
- Source data from primary/secondary data sources, create and maintain multifaceted databases to generate reports and financial tools.
- Build financial models, business intelligence and dashboards, and evaluate complex financial analysis of strategic initiatives to identify and measure sales, earnings, overall impact to the P&L, investments, and ROI.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, following through on issues in a timely manner.
- Prepare periodic business reviews and actionable analytics.
- Acquire solid understanding of the PBM businesses and proactively look for ways to add value and analytical solutions to business opportunities.
The salary range is $ 62,700 to $81,540 annually.
Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

What we are searching for• Strength in ability to analyze, interpret, and report on large financial data sets.
• Ability to identify, prioritize, and solve problems using analytical frameworks to streamline the process.
• Strong data-mining skills and statistical software expertise (e.g. snowflake analytical data SQL warehouse, excel, visual analytics, Oracle EPM/EPB, PowerBI, other business intelligence) and ability to interpret results.
• Experience evaluating Access and SQL database requirements to determine information needs, database relationships and attributes.
• Flexible self-starter and team player who works well in various situations (from well-defined to unstructured) and proactively identifies business improvement areas.
• Demonstrate relationship-building skills, good communication skills, both oral and written, and have the ability to interact with all levels of leadership including executives, staff, business partners, and external vendor partners.
• Ability to work collaboratively with and through others to achieve desired results.
• Customer focused, organized, and able to work independently as well as lead and supervise.
• Excellent presentation skills, able to present complex issues in a simple, succinct manner.
• Advanced PC skills in MS Office for data manipulation, analysis, and charting (Access, Excel, SmartView, PowerPoint, Word.
We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related quantitative field. MBA a plus.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data analysis, financial modeling, finance, accounting, or related fields.
- Pharmacy, PBM, or Retail company experience preferred.
- Some travel may be required, up to 5%.
- Strong problem solving/prioritization skills.
