Growing Public Accounting Firm is seeking a candidate for a full-time tax accountant position within the firm. The perfect candidate has ambition to learn and grow with us as we evolve our tax, accounting and advisory services. We envision this position to lead to future client management opportunities in 1-2 years given the right candidate.
The right candidate will be willing to identify problems, form solutions and suggest improvements. This position will be primarily involved with the tax processes for our individual and business clients but could include some time spent in accounting functions for experience and workload planning purposes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participation in pre-tax season planning, gathering information and setup
- Reviewing and verifying tax forms completed by clients based upon historical data
- Processing and preparing individual income tax returns
- Processing and preparing business tax returns
- Properly researching and seeking advice when confronted with challenging or unusual circumstances
- Updating and preparing fixed assets schedules with book and tax asset lives
- Completing bookkeeping and trial balance reviews to move projects along
- Learning and understanding Federal and State tax laws
Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in an accounting office is preferred; we will train the right candidate.
- Ability to work up to 60 hours a week as needed during busy periods, typically February to April 15th and around other critical tax deadlines.
- Professional experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook are necessary.
- Proficiency with Quickbooks, Adobe or other PDF software programs is helpful.
- Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting skills is necessary.
- Tax preparation experience is necessary.
- An accounting degree or relevant experience is necessary.
- Experience working with Thomson Reuters software is a plus, but not necessary.
- Experience with the SurePrep tax software and process is a plus, but not necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The right candidate will be a salaried employee depending upon degree and qualifications. Salary is dependent on experience, but a general range is from $80,000 to $100,000 base salary.
- Variable bonuses for personal and company performance (tax season, quarterly, year-end company performance, TBD).
- We pay for continuing education and annual license fees as applicable for individual staff members.
- Full-time, Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. Flexibility is available for the right candidate.
- Flexible off-peak (summer, fall, winter) work schedules/office closures.
- 401k employer match at 4% after waiting period.
- Group health plan is available with employer contribution. Dental, Vision paid at 100% for employee.
- 130 hours paid time off (sick/vacation/flex).
