Job Overview
The Burndy Financial Analyst III serves as a key member of the Hubbell finance team, supporting 4 sites within the Burndy US business unit. This role reports to the Burndy Business Unit Controller in Manchester, NH and interfaces regularly with the Burndy Sr. Financial Analyst, Burndy Cost Accountant, Group Controller and Vice President of Finance. The Financial Analyst III partners with the finance and operations functions to ensure the delivery of value-added financial analysis and accounting support that leads to accurate and timely financial reporting and decision-making while ensuring that the internal customer requirements are satisfied on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
- Ensures that financial reporting and related processes are designed and executed in accordance with GAAP and the company’s accounting policies & procedures.
- Supports key financial system implementations as needed.
- Ability to work across all levels of an organization and to be able to effectively communicate to influence change.
- Oversees the monthly preparation of account reconciliations and journal entries using a web-based application (Blackline).
- Reviews and approves purchase requests and prepares monthly and quarterly procurement review reports.
- Oversees intercompany balancing, independently researches issues, and works with counterparts in other business units to clear up discrepancies.
- Prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reports, such as standard margin bridges and pricing reports.
- Ability to analyze and make assessments of financial statements, internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Completes ad hoc financial information requests and various special projects as needed.
- Support internal SOX audit activity as necessary and oversee timely remediation of any findings or follow up items.
- Ability to effectively interact with Hubbell stakeholders remotely via video conference using company provided equipment as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, from a four-year college or university required.
- 5+ Years of finance/accounting, preferably within a global manufacturing company.
- Demonstrated record of success in a variety of progressive finance | accounting roles.
- Ability to effectively identify, diagnose and communicate the impact of complex transactions to the company’s leadership team.
- Experience implementing and/or maintaining SOX controls in a publicly traded company environment.
- Understanding of US GAAP, transactional accounting within a manufacturing company model and with a monthly accounting close process.
- Expert working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to work well with others in a diverse organization.
- Highly organized with an ability to work well under tight time constraints.
- Self-starter who is able to work independently and execute projects effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must have mid-to-large scale ERP system experience (SAP a significant plus).
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
