The Financial Medical Expense Modeling Enablement Advisor will carry out projection and results analysis for core Medical Advantage Part C medical claims expense processed and paid on a fee-for-service (FFS) basis. This includes a quarterly update of projection assumptions based on emerging results and running the models to calculate the proposed GAAP projection. On a monthly basis, results relative to projection are reviewed, and research may be undertaken to explain variances to projection. Outside of core deliverables, the Advisor will implement model enhancements for greater efficiency, granularity, and accuracy. This individual will work with various teams including, but not limited to FP&A centralization, Market Finance, Product, Pricing, Reserving, Operations, and external Audit Firms.
Responsibilities:
- Extract, analyze, and validate large sets of data used for quarterly projections.
- Develop new analytical tools and resources.
- Deliver quarterly projections to Finance leadership and other key business partners.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot complex MS Excel and SQL-based models.
- Assist in coordinating and documenting financial analysis projects and/or financial reporting.
- Analyze and identify trends, variances, and key issues and provide recommendations for adjustment.
- Prepare and improve financial analysis and forecasting methodologies.
- Assist with ad hoc projects/requests.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Business or Economics preferred.
- 4+ years in a financial, actuarial or a highly analytical position.
- ASA, FSA, MBA, or CPA are a plus (but not required).
- Must have experience with data extraction/manipulation via SQL and strong Excel modeling/analysis skills.
- Excellent judgment, communication, interpersonal, and organization abilities.
- Understanding of or experience with financial projections.
- Experience in a highly-regulated business environment.
