Sr. Mgr Accounts Payable

Position Overview
Manages an accounts payable staff of between 60 and 70 teammates (including 3-4 managers) responsible for aspects of accounts payable for the North America region.
What you’ll do at Insight
The Senior Manager of AP is responsible for managing all aspects of accounts payable for Insight’s North American region. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the North American Accounts Payable function, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing for vendors while maintaining compliance with vendor requirements, accounting standards, departmental audit controls and SOX regulations.
- Collaborate with the Director of Financial Services to develop and execute strategic initiatives for the AP department, driving efficiency and effectiveness in payment processes.
- Directly manage a team of AP managers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the successful execution of their responsibilities.
- Drive talent management initiatives by interviewing, hiring, developing, rewarding, and promoting managers and team members in alignment with senior management and HR guidelines.
- Offer regular feedback and coaching to AP managers to enhance their performance and foster professional growth, while providing strategic direction to all AP teams to achieve departmental goals.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration by working closely with finance, legal, procurement, and other departments to address interdepartmental needs and optimize AP processes.
- Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiating payment terms, resolving payment discrepancies, and ensuring adherence to contractual obligations.
- Implement best practices and process improvements within the AP function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to Accounts Payable operations, analyzing data to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in Accounts Payable to recommend and implement innovative solutions that drive departmental success and efficiency.
What you’ll need to join Insight
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Accounts Payable, Finance and/or accounting; or an equivalent combination. Minimum of five years in a managerial capacity, demonstrating strong leadership skills and team development.
- 5+ years managing global multi-country teammates.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and Accounts Payable processes, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience or equivalent education and training.
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex financial reports, technical procedures, and accounting entries to drive strategic decision-making and departmental performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and deliver impactful presentations to diverse audiences, including senior management, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong ability to interpret intricate documents, address sensitive inquiries or complaints tactfully, and deliver persuasive presentations on complex topics to senior executives, stakeholders, and team members.
- Strategic thinker with a proven track record in developing and executing departmental strategies, implementing process improvements, and fostering collaboration with internal departments to achieve organizational objectives.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize Accounts Payable processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Extensive experience in managing vendor relationships, negotiating payment terms, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and mitigating financial risks to uphold integrity and financial controls within the organization.
