Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly and year-end close process including assigned journal entries, account review and reconciliations, accruals, and general Oracle process support.
- Prepare complex general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries and ensure accuracy of trial balance at close.
- Review work of other staff members, verify accuracy, correct errors, and ensure staff are properly trained to reduce reoccurring errors.
- Gather and prepare schedules for external audit, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Prepare financial statement footnotes and provide calculations and support for disclosures.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP and internal requirements.
- Understand and apply the accounting and reporting rules for not-for-profit entities and stay current with new developments.
- Analyze complex financial data and provide ad-hoc reports requested by internal and external stakeholders.
- Understand and maintain complex financial system configurations, hierarchies, mappings, and allocation rules needed to support the financial structure and reporting framework of the organization.
- Collaborate with the budget team to support variance analysis, forecasting, and the financial planning processes.
- Analyze the evolving financial reporting needs of the organization and implement changes and improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, suggest recommendations, and implement improvements.
- Collaborate with departments and Finance functional divisions to meet organizational needs, enhance high performance, and ensure quality customer service in developing and implementing ASCO's financial systems, data quality, compliance, and reporting.
- Cross training in other accounting functions and responsibilities is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- 5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
- Nonprofit experience.
- Experience and technical expertise with financial management systems, such as Oracle Cloud ERP.
- Proficiency in Excel for data analysis, modeling, and financial reporting.

Travel
No travel required. If position is remote, may be required to attend meetings at headquarters on a quarterly basis.
