For over 25 years, the Calian Nuclear team has helped to ensure the safety and security of Canada’s nuclear infrastructure. This approach has resulted in full participation in hundreds of projects serving the nuclear industry and all levels of government, both in Canada and internationally.
Position Overview
Our Nuclear Analysts play a key technical role in the performance of various projects within the Calian Nuclear team. These Analysts support technical projects in the core areas of the group which include:
- Nuclear Safety and Licensing
- Environmental Protection and Impact Assessments
- Decommissioning and Waste Management
- Emergency Preparedness and Training
- Systems Engineering and Robotics.
We are looking for Nuclear Analysts of different seniority levels to join the team and assist in the important work our team is doing within the Nuclear industry.
Responsibilities
- Perform and support technical, engineering, and scientific project work for Calian Nuclear customers
- Support and lead the development of high-quality technical reports and documents
- Act as a resource to the management team in support of developing business opportunities and proposals
- Ensure all project work is performed in accordance with the Calian Nuclear Quality Assurance Program (QAP)
- Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and potential business partners
Qualifications
Junior Analyst
- Entry level with 0-2 years of experience in a relevant field
- University Degree in Engineering, Science, or other relevant discipline
- Performs work under the direct supervision of a project manager
- Critically analyzes tasks and proposes methods and approaches
Analyst
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a relevant field
- Develops and proposes methods and approaches to support direction provided by more senior team members
- Takes on increasing levels of responsibilities for the performance of project tasks and liaison with the clients
- Registration in an appropriate professional certification program (e.g., PEng in training/EIT) is an asset
Intermediate Analyst
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in a relevant field
- P.Eng. or equivalent certification is an asset for technical roles
- Plays a key technical role in the performance of projects, including occasionally leading the team as a principal investigator
- Is independent and autonomous in the performance of tasks; determines the best approach to solving problems
Senior Analyst
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in a relevant field
- Recognized as an emerging specialist in a relevant field
- Supervises technical teams in completing project work
- Increasing level of responsibility for all aspects of a project
- Technical lead for projects with minimal supervision
- Mentors more junior project staff successfully
- Often acts as technical interface with customers
Additional Requirements
- A post-secondary degree in Engineering, Sciences, Emergency Management, or another related discipline
- A clear sense of urgency to achieve results. A “can-do”, “let’s make it happen” attitude and a focus on a positive customer experience
- Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to collaboration, good judgment, analytical skills, and creative problem solving
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Very proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Flexibility and calmness in dealing with managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with a track record of creativity and innovation in problem solving
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Canadian Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level
