Vaco has partnered with a SaaS Investment Company in downtown Phoenix in their search for an experienced Payroll Manager/Senior Accountant. The company highly prefers if this person has experience with Paylocity and wants to make it clear the role will be heavily involved in GL accounting work when NOT processing payroll.
Helpful Notes:
- Multi-State experience is preferred BUT not required
- Will be processing payroll for roughly 100 employees (most are in PHX)
- This person does not report to a payroll manager. They are in the Accounting+finance team, so they must know how to do A-Z payroll.
- This is a stand-alone position in Payroll, only apply if you feel comfortable as the sole contributor.
- The payroll duties are only a 25-30 hr a week responsibility, so the company will ask this employee to also help with Bonus accruals/commission calculations, AR/AP, GL + Month end help as well.
Past experience must haves:
- Day to day Payroll Processes
- Commission calculation and payout
- Employee Stock option plans within Payroll
- Employee Health Benefits that require payments to 3rd parties
- Employee 401k plans within Payroll
- Expenses paid out via Payroll processes
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, prepare, and validate payroll data. Leverage payroll system (Paylocity), to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensure employees are paid accurately and on time including payroll related to new personnel, terminations, garnishments, commissions, and bonuses.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Review and analyze current payroll and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations. Prepare payroll reports as requested.
- Maintain Employee Stock Ownership Plan records and ensure the value of vested shares and withholdings are processed correctly.
- Support 401K, workers compensation, and other statutory audits as required.
- Prepare bonus and commission accruals and track their payment; propose monthly journal entries to ensure amounts accrued reflect the expected liability.
- Maintain alignment between the Company's ERP system and HRIS system to assure cost center structure and departments are continuously in sync.
- Ensure system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
