Opportunity Overview Assist the Vice President with accounting execution of assigned student housing property-level financial information and prepare financial statements in a timely and accurate manner. The candidate will be expected to exhibit creative and flexible skills, working in a relatively small, yet growing environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform full-cycle accounting, including full accounts payable processing, journal entries, monthly accruals/amortizations, and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Responsible for multiple student housing properties within Company portfolio.
- Respond to Property Managers’ questions regarding monthly charges, invoice coding, and month-end reporting.
- Assist with preparation of annual budget.
- Review monthly charges, Gross Potential Rent report, and other AR balances.
- Calculate monthly property management fees and process payments.
- Prepare month-end reporting packages and review and analyze budget-to-actual variances.
- Prepare annual work papers and reconciliations for year-end tax returns and external audit.
- Assist Property Accounting Manager and Vice President with cash flow analyses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 1+ years of prior Real Estate property-level accrual basis accounting
- Student housing or multifamily property accounting experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel application
- Experience with Entrata, MRI, and/or Yardi accounting software preferred
- Candidate needs to be coachable, enthusiastic, creative, flexible, display strong technical aptitude, detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
