We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- North America Close Process: Oversight of the 5-day close process for North America, including the planning, organization & review of all close processes, entries & accounts. Schedule & take control & ownership of all close-related meetings & reviews.
- General Ledger Accounting: Ownership and review of general ledger account reconciliations within the North American Trial Balance, including Commissions, Prepaids, Royalties & Leases (specifically compliance with ASC 842). Will be required to have the insight needed to review & scrutinize account balances, suggesting adjustments where appropriate.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Partner with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including systems administration, invoice approvals & coding, and vendor master management. Will also collectively have oversight of incoming & outgoing cash transactions, application & treatment, along with bank statement roll-forwards & reconciliations.
- Audit: Serve as liaison to external audit team, facilitating all communication between the accounting & finance team and the audit teams, and tracking all key deliverables and ensuring that they are completed correctly & on time.
- Internal Controls: Develop & implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks. Monitor compliance with internal control procedures & recommend improvements as necessary.
- Team Leadership: Supervise & mentor accounting staff, providing guidance & support to ensure their professional development. Foster a positive & collaborative work environment within the accounting department.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for the fishing industry and outdoor recreation is a plus.
