This is a remote position, preferably on the east coast.
Job Description
What you will do:
Tax Compliance:
- Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of accurate and timely tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other applicable taxes.
- Assist in the compilation of the annual tax provision, including an assessment of potential uncertain tax positions and other tax contingencies required under ASC740 and ASC450 respectively.
- Resolve/respond to all federal and state notices as received.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual tax forecast/budget.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all tax obligations at the federal, state, and local levels.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all tax-related documents.
- Prepare and maintain documentation to support tax filings and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information for tax purposes.
- Assist in the creation of process memos for all functions performed in tax.
Tax Planning:
- Analyze financial data to identify opportunities for tax savings and efficiencies.
- Provide recommendations for tax planning strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities.
- Work closely with VP Global Tax and other internal teams to implement tax-saving initiatives.
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct research on complex tax issues and interpret relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in tax planning and compliance.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including accounting, legal, and senior management, to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Interface with external auditors and tax authorities, providing necessary information and addressing inquiries.
Risk Management:
- Assess and mitigate tax-related risks.
- Assist in efficient resolution of any federal or state tax audits.
- Develop and implement internal controls to ensure accurate and compliant tax reporting.
What you will bring to SymphonyAI:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA or other relevant certifications are preferred.
- 6-10 years of experience in tax compliance, planning, and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in tax software and financial management systems.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- NetSuite expertise preferred.
