Position Summary:
Mount Mary is seeking a diligent and empathetic Assistant Director of Financial Aid & Veterans Services to join the Financial Aid & Veterans Services team. The Assistant Director plays a crucial role within the institution's Financial Aid & Veterans Services office, supporting the Director in managing financial aid programs and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. This position involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the office, assisting in the administration of financial aid processes, and providing guidance to students and families regarding financial aid options and requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with federal, state, and institutional regulations governing financial aid programs. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and participate in audits and reviews as necessary. Provide training and guidance to staff regarding regulatory changes and best practices.
- Operational Oversight: Assist in the management and coordination of all aspects of financial aid operations. Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial aid applications, awards, and disbursements. Implement and maintain policies and procedures to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
- Student Support and Advising: Advise students and families on financial aid options, eligibility criteria, and application processes. Address inquiries and resolve issues related to financial aid offers, awards, and discrepancies. Conduct financial aid workshops and presentations to educate students and families about financial planning.
- Financial Aid Program Management: Assist in the development and implementation of financial aid programs and initiatives. Analyze data and trends to assess the effectiveness of financial aid programs and recommend improvements. Collaborate with other departments to ensure coordinated delivery of financial aid services.
- Team Leadership and Support: Mentor financial aid staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and excellence. Support the Director in strategic planning related to financial aid operations and support to counseling team during busy season of verification, awarding and counseling students.

Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Previous experience as a Financial Aid Administrator required.
- Previous experience with PowerFAIDS, Jenzabar EX, and Slate preferred.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with prospective and current students.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills necessary.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Physical Demands:
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Must reach, bend, stoop, lift.
- Must sit, walk or stand.
- Some repetitive motion may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Can be scheduled for up to 40 hours a week, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Varying workflow; sometimes stressful with high workload times of the year.
