Position: Staff Accountant – Accounts Receivable

Staff Accountants work with other Accounting team members in a highly collaborative environment performing a wide range of financial duties in a professional, fast-paced setting. An appreciation for detail, flexibility and unwavering customer service skills are critical to the position’s success.
Core Duties
- Timely process incoming checks, credit card and electronic receipts for Bank accounts, including Trust.
- Gather documentation and prepare Trust settlement distribution packets for review and approval.
- Accurately process Trust checks in accounting software, obtain signatures and process Trust Positive Pay.
- Reconcile Trust and other account balances, post interest and provide annual reporting to clients with Trust balances.
- Communicate with clients and internal personnel to resolve questions and concerns as they arise.
- Assist with 1099 processing, including for Trust account.
- Submit Unclaimed Property reports and remit funds.
- Assist with Collections and Special Projects as assigned by the Director of Finance.
- Prepare and file Excise Tax, B&O and Personal Property returns in various jurisdictions throughout the year.
- Cross train in other duties including Payroll processing, Accounts Payable, Billing and Fileroom.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Arts in Accounting preferred with 1 to 2 years of experience in a high-volume environment. Proven experience of 3 to 4 years in Accounts Receivable may be substituted for Bachelor of Arts in Accounting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of accounts receivable and working knowledge of accounts payable. Familiarity with the Washington State Bar Association Trust Account Rules considered a plus.
Skills: Excellent computer skills with proficiency in computer-based accounting systems and MS Excel; working knowledge of MS Word and Outlook; willingness to learn and use additional applications when needed, for example, various regulatory reporting and bank software applications.
Abilities: Strong customer service orientation resulting in a positive, helpful attitude toward staff, co-workers, and management/partners while establishing a high degree of trust and credibility; focus on planning and prioritizing work activities with a proven ability to multi-task and manage competing demands; willingness to proactively identify issues and suggest viable solutions; work both independently and as part of a team.
