ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Gather and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Conduct statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates and significant changes and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
- Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
- Ascertain proper handling of financial transactions and approve transactions within designated limits.
- Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
- Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
- Assist accounting management with review, processing, preparing and analysis of monthly close entries.
- Responsible for reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as assigned and ensuring accuracy of account balances.
- Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures, as well as the accounting process and procedures for improvement of the company’s accounting operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Intermediate level knowledge of all accounting functions and related internal controls, including general ledger journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets and payroll.
- Strong analytical and auditing skills.
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to follow through to resolve issues.
- Ability to identify and implement new processes for efficiencies and enhanced controls.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
- Superior written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment.
EDUCATION AND DIRECT WORK EXPERIENCE
- A 4-year college degree in Accounting or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
- 8 or more years accounting or industry accounting experience required.
