Matrix is seeking an experienced Project Accountant II to join our Project Accounting team in Florham Park, NJ or Eatontown, NJ. This position includes working closely with project managers to ensure the fiscal health of the assigned projects throughout the entire project life cycle, from project due diligence through client invoicing and collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up new projects, including billing terms in the accounting system (Deltek Vision).
- Complete the full billing cycle per project assigned ensuring efficiency and accuracy meeting all deadlines to ensure the billing and collections cycle times are minimized.
- Work directly with clients to provide high customer service levels, address client needs and provide solutions.
- Follow through on all billing-related issues to resolution including invoice corrections.
- Monitor the project financial performance monthly and work closely with the project managers as needed.
- Maintain and monitor project specific budgets, spreadsheets and provide any ad hoc required reports.
- Coordinate collection efforts and resolve aged WIP.
- Attend project review calls.
- Assist in month end revenue review on an as needed basis.
- Work closely with Collections, Payables, and the General Ledger team to resolve project related issues.
Requirements
- B.S. in Accounting/Finance preferred. A.S. in Accounting/Finance with equivalent accounting/billing experience will be considered.
- 2-4 years in project accounting or billing experience, preferably in the engineering and/or architecture industry.
- Experience with Deltek Vision billing software highly preferred.
- Basic accounting knowledge.
- Strong organization, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent MS Suite skills including Excel, Word, Outlook and Access.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple deadlines with ease.
- Must be able to work independently as well as work in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
- Accuracy in preparing and proofing billing for accuracy.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
