Security Bank & Trust Co. is seeking an Internal Auditor to join our Risk Management team! The Internal Auditor plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulations, assessing internal controls, and identifying areas for improvement. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining the bank’s integrity and reputation by conducting thorough and objective audits.
Responsibilities:
- Audit Planning & Execution: Helps to develop the annual audit schedule, based on risk assessment, ensuring that those areas with greatest potential risk receive appropriate audit attention. Conducts audits of various departments including operations, compliance, retail banking, lending, and information technology. Evaluates the effectiveness of internal processes and procedures.
- Documentation & Reports: Prepares audit work papers, ensures adequate documentation to support conclusions and provides effective and reasonable recommendations. Prepares clear and concise audit reports detailing findings, recommendations, and action plans. Communicates audit results to the Audit Committee and Senior Management. Facilitates discussions through the Audit Committee on identified issues.
- Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Stays abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure the bank’s compliance. Provides ongoing guidance and support to ensure sustained compliance and operational efficiency.
- Risk Management: Completes various risk assessments as assigned; identifies and analyzes potential risks, providing recommendations for risk mitigation. Evaluates the effectiveness of risk management processes and systems.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Audit experience within the banking or financial services industry.
- Possess strong written/verbal communication skills as well as excellent organizational/time management skills.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Project a businesslike professionalism in both appearance and manner.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-departmental teams.
