The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is looking for an organized, customer focused, and reliable individual to join our administrative team as a part time Accounting Clerk. This position would work 20 hours per week in the Chemistry Building, schedule to be determined based on employee availability and departmental need (usually within the hours of 8-5).
This position performs various clerical and routine accounting tasks in support of the department, to include posting entries, verifying and reconciling input to financial reporting system output, processing payments, and/or assisting in preparation of billings and other financial reports. Responds to inquiries and contacts other departments and/or vendors to resolve a variety of problems. Assists in performance of various clerical duties.
Specifically, in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, this position will be responsible for the following:
- Purchase supplies (office and lab) using a PCard for transactions under $10,000, approximately 15-20 transactions per week.
- Communicate with various faculty and students regarding their purchasing needs, work with Accountant to develop/ensure purchasing protocols.
- Reconciling transactions in Chrome River.
- Processing reimbursements and honorariums for departmental guests.
- Perform biweekly and monthly time entry.
- Assist with billing for service units within department.
- Assist Admin team with special events and other needs.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency using Microsoft Excel.
- Proven problem solving skills.
- Customer Service experience, team player.
- Six months of administrative and/or accounting/bookkeeping experience.
