Summary:
You will participate in the design, development, and testing of our GoSystem Tax or UltraTax using in-house development tools. In this role, you will collect, analyze, and prioritize requirements from various entities including external taxing authorities and our internal sources to define and make required changes to the GoSystem Tax software. It will require working closely with internal teams. This position requires a forward-thinking attitude to implement tax law changes in advance of a typical tax filing season. Depending on the nature of the project, you will undertake a combination of technical implementation and testing analyst tasks to understand customer and/or product needs in the context of internal & external requirements and/or software development information. As a Tax Analyst, you will be working on low to medium-level federal or state projects. Communicate with other internal teams to stay abreast of tax law changes per jurisdiction.
About the Role:
- Communicate with other internal teams to stay abreast of tax law changes per jurisdiction.
- Constant monitoring of IRS and state taxing agency tax law changes by reviewing Checkpoint and other sources to stay current on impending tax law changes.
- Analyze tax forms and related laws to ensure our software is kept current.
- Design the client interface, such as input/output screens, in our tax product.
- Implement changes to our existing tax software products – For GoSystem, this would require basic programming skills with internal tools.
- Write and/or communicate design and system flow specifications for software engineers.
- Test software products.
- Write help documentation and work with technical writers to implement into the software.
- Provide phone support to our customers on an as-needed basis.
- Take Support calls during the busy season in the spring and fall.
About You:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or Computer Science.
Up to 2 years of recent tax preparation experience or experience providing technical support to end users of tax software.
Strong communication and computer skills.
Desired Experience:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Enrolled Agent (EA).
Up to two years of tax preparation experience.
Experience with electronic filing of tax returns is a plus.
Federal, State, city, and local income tax preparation a plus.
