The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a full-time candidate as Research Coordinator, who is detail-oriented and results-driven to join our team for a unique opportunity. The position will support several research projects that collectively focus on studying the implementation of cancer prevention services (i.e. colorectal cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, and promoting vaccination) in New Mexico and beyond. The selected candidate will be at the forefront of managing meaningful and engaging projects within the community and important stakeholders from the clinical community. Day to day activities will include participation in the design and implementation of the intervention(s) for community and clinical benefit, recruitment efforts for research projects, formal and informal writing and presentations when needed in the community, and the overall day-to-day oversight of the projects.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of research study protocols.
- Implement and execute the study protocols, and oversee all aspects of the data collection and data management.
- Oversee and effectively manage compliance with the research requirements at the Department and the Cancer Center level.
- Recruit research participants and community and clinical stakeholders at the local and regional levels.
- Recruit, instruct, and oversee student research employees and volunteers.
- Develop logistics and research flow sheet (recruitment, data collection, data management, educational sessions).
- Interact regularly with faculty and project coordinators regarding the individual project(s) and provide reporting as required.
- Complete start-up initiatives as required by the individual project(s).
- Experience with organizing, running, and debriefing meetings both in person and on Zoom.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to multitask and effectively adapt to changing priorities for the multiple research projects.
- Ability to effectively communicate with community partners and clinical faculty.
- Ability to provide oversight over multiple tasks in a research project so that the project is completed in a timely and effective manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Knowledge of REDCap and Dedoose.
- Ability to find and summarize existing studies on relevant topics.
