Under the general direction of the Revenue Collection Manager, the position assists in the overall day-to-day operations of the revenue accounting and collection functions. The position also assists in the work activities of the operating sections involved in the maintenance of customer service, billings, cash applications, collections, customer records and accounts.
You are excited about this position because you will:
- Perform collection activities in accordance with rules and regulations, operating permits, lease agreements, and policies and procedures.
- Use computerized billing, tracking and collections systems, prepare and maintain a wide variety of records, reports and documents relating to financial and operational information.
- Interact with other departmental personnel and serve as a contact to respond to customer inquiries related to account balances.
- Participate in continuous review of customer accounts and monitor past due accounts to achieve collection success.
- Assist cash application and billing teams to resolve unidentified cash receipts, payments on account and billing issues and discrepancies.
- Draft, interpret, implement, and administer existing policies, rules and regulations, and procedures related to customer services and accounts, payments, billings and collections.
- Analyze and prepare monthly, quarterly management reports, and year-end audit schedules related to accounts receivable and collection status.
- Prepare and coordinate accounts for additional collection services.
- Help in the testing and validation of continued accounting system upgrades.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
How to qualify
1. Two years of collection experience in a public agency. This experience must involve collection work equivalent to that performed by Class 4306 Collections Officer in the City and County of San Francisco; OR
2. Three years of private sector collection experience in collecting delinquent accounts;
OR
3. An equivalent combination of experience;
AND
4. Ability to type 35 wpm.
Special Requirements:
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment; ability to work in a standard office environment, which may involve prolonged sitting, bending and operation of typing, word processing and other office equipment; interact with and obtain information from hostile individuals.

One year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40 hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

Selection Procedures:

If this becomes necessary, only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the Department will be invited for an interview.
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Clearance:
Candidates for employment with the San Francisco Airport Commission are required to undergo a criminal history record check, including FBI fingerprints, and Security Threat Assessment in order to determine eligibility for security clearance and may be required to undergo drug/alcohol screening. Per Civil Service Commission Rule Section 110.9.1, every applicant for an examination must possess and maintain the qualifications required by law and by the examination announcement for the examination. Failure to obtain and maintain security clearance may be basis for termination from employment with the Airport Commission.
