Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join our team in Irving, Texas. As a Senior Accounting Manager you will report directly to the Director of Materials Accounting for North American Shared Services.
What You’ll get to do
Oversee the financial and operational transaction processing for business line operations
Responsible for the accurate and timely closing of financials systems for area of responsibility
Responsible for the monthly balance sheet reconciliation and controls monitoring for area of responsibility
Oversee the annual physical inventory flyover adjustments and review
Manage inventory valuation adjustments and reserves
Coordinate the external audit support internally for the interim and year-end audits
Coordinate the internal audit support as needed
Prepare and distribute reports and provide analysis/support as needed
Serve as the key finance partner with operations to drive operational excellence and continuous improvements
Responsible for the management and development of a team of accounting professionals
Collaborate with other functional areas in corporate, region, and local operations on special projects
Deliver results individually and as a key team member in a fast paced, high performance culture
Encourage and identify process improvement opportunities for the Shared Service organization as it relates to the individual’s area of responsibility
Responsible for the due diligence and integration of any acquired entities through M&A for area of responsibility
Provide technical accounting advice on accounting matters
Complete ad hoc projects.
Essential Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or a Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance
10-15 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
Solid understanding of GAAP and IFRS
Thorough understanding of large company ERP environments like SAP, JDE, Oracle
Experience with reporting systems like Essbase, HFM, Cognos, SAP BW, or similar
Proficiency with core MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Critical thinking and strong analytical skills
Solid project management and administrative skills
Proven track record in managing people, meeting deadlines, and working collaboratively as part of a team are essential
Preferred Experience and Skills
Proven experience collaborating with and building the capability of less experienced colleagues
SAP ERP implementation experience
Preferred experience with SAP ECC, JDE, Essbase, and Blackline
Advanced skills for financial analysis / modeling in Microsoft Excel
Experience with Lean / Six Sigma methods
CPA or CMA certification
Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability
Strong tactical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
Organizational influence with strong interpersonal and communication skills
