Overview
GSA National has an exciting opportunity to join us as an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the company. This position involves overseeing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Support the Controller in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage GSA National client annual Form 5500 audits and serve as the main point of contact for external requests.
- Evaluate, develop, and maintain strong accounting processes and internal control environment.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
- Mentor and develop junior accounting and finance staff.
- Provide support and oversight for cash management at GSA National and our client health and welfare trusts.
- Respond to both internal and external customer information requests in a timely manner and ensuring customer satisfaction.

What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Employer benefits and/or insurance industry experience preferred. Experience with health and welfare plans and knowledge of the Service Contractors Act as it applies to health and welfare benefits for Government Contractors a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, accounting theories, internal controls, auditing, corporate finance, budgeting, and current accounting practices including financial statement preparation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Specifically, must have at least an Intermediate Level of Excel.
- Ability to think critically, analyze data, predict outcomes, and make decisions.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, problem solving, and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer.
