Position Summary:
The Penske Senior Accountant will collaborate with the business, focusing on the administration, accounting, and reporting of the Partnership’s leases. This position will work closely with various departments including Real Estate, Foreign Affiliates, IT, and others within Controllership, offering support and expertise. This position has responsibility for reviewing financial statements, recording journal entries, completing variance reporting, and identifying cost recovery/process improvement opportunities.
Major Responsibilities:
- A liaison with the business to evaluate, administer, account, and report on leases by applying Penske’s lease accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Provide support in the evaluation of contracts as well as maintain and update Penske’s lease accounting records for new lease transactions, modifications, and terminations.
- Reconcile, analyze, and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close.
- Prepare and analyze reports that support Penske’s internal and external reporting, including footnote disclosure.
- Provide expertise and guidance to general inquiries regarding Penske’s lease accounting policies as well as related GAAP.
- Investigate material, sometimes complex, balance sheet fluctuations, and document differences for management.
- Prepare process measures to monitor sources that feed general ledger.
- Reconcile sub-system to general ledger to provide support for balance sheet accounts.
- Provide support for special projects, ad hoc requests, and other duties as assigned.
- Develop and drive process improvements.
- Establish rapport and build cooperative working relationships with relevant internal and external parties.
- Other tasks as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years experience in the field of accounting required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Public accounting experience and/or CPA, CMA, MBA preferred.
- Experience with AS400, Onestream and/or Tririga preferred.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong team player and self-driven individual.
- Ability to multi-task and meet reporting requirement deadlines.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint required.
