Position Summary
The University of New Mexico Clinical and Translation Science Center (CTSC) invites applications for a Research Coordinator to support clinical and translational research. The CTSC is a Health Science Center initiative to integrate and expand the reach of clinical medical research from the laboratory to clinical and medical practice: promoting a bench to bedside to community effort. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) promotes this emphasis on clinical and translational research nationally, to facilitate the expansion of clinical research, the training of clinical researchers, and the emergence of community voice in the direction and implementation of clinical research.
The primary role of the Research Coordinator will be providing support to Long COVID Studies and other research projects. The coordinator will assist in project planning, and ensures that pre-established work scope, study protocol, and regulatory requirements are followed. Recruits and coordinates research subjects, as appropriate, and serves as principle administrative liaison for the project. Oversees and coordinates the provision of administrative and staff services to investigators; develops and maintains recordkeeping systems and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates the initiation of research study protocol, and the establishment of operating policies and procedures.
- Plans, implements, and maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; may coordinate the collection and analysis of research data.
- Coordinates the procurement and disposition of research facilities and/or equipment; establishes and coordinates logistical arrangements for research subjects and outreach activities, as appropriate to the study.
- Recruits, instructs, and coordinates research subjects and/or volunteers, as appropriate to specific study objectives and workscope.
- Ensures the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities; acts as the primary administrative point of contact for internal research staff and as the principle operational liaison for other research organizations, funding agencies and regulating bodies.
- Coordinates the day-to-day activities of technical support staff specifically engaged in the carrying out of research/clinical protocol, as appropriate to the position; may perform aspects of research protocol, as required, in accordance with specified program objectives.
- Provides administrative and fiscal support to investigators and research staff; establishes budgets and financial reporting procedures, and monitors and controls expenditure.
- Plans and coordinates the staffing of research studies, to include the recruitment and administration of research support staff, as appropriate to the activity.
- Oversees and coordinates the provision of support services to investigators and researchers.
- Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies.
- Organizes and facilitates meetings, conferences, and other events associated with research.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
TERM APPOINTMENT; FUNDING AVAILABLE THROUGH 05/31/2025; CONTINUANCE BEYOND THAT DATE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING. CTSC HAS OVER 35 YEARS OF FUNDING.

Conditions of Employment
- Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
- All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to multitask and effectively adapt to changing priorities for the multiple research projects.
- Ability to effectively communicate with community partners and clinical faculty.
- Ability to provide oversight over multiple tasks in a research project so that the project is completed in a timely and effective manner.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge with REDCap and PowerChart.
- CITI Training Certification.
- Experience with conducting Long COVID Studies for Adult and Pediatrics.
- Experience with performing AE reporting, ordering of clinical labs, phlebotomy and vital sign collection.
