Baker Tilly Channel Islands Limited is seeking a dynamic and motivated Accountant Consultant to join our team in Jersey.
Role overview
This is a full-time position, where you will be seconded to our client and play a key role in their finance and administration operations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Accountant Consultant to join Baker Tilly Channel Islands, the CI member firm of Baker Tilly International. You must be a qualified CA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent with a background in accounting and audit.
You will be embedded within the client's team, responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective management of accounts, and enhancing accounting operations. This includes preparing and reviewing financial reports, developing management accounts, and maintaining strong professional relationships with client personnel. You will also get the opportunity to participate in special projects and business initiatives.
We are looking for someone who wants to take an active role in growing the business and providing excellent service to our clients. As a member of our team, you will be involved in a variety of business activities, including training client staff on accounting practices and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting in accordance with accounting standards.
- Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and liaise with auditors as required.
- Provide support in the preparation of periodic financial reports and presentations for management.
Management Accounts:
- Develop and maintain management accounts, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Including NAV reporting packages
- Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying trends and providing actionable insights.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.
Accounting Operations:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of accounting systems and processes.
- Conduct regular financial audits to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with client personnel.
- Provide training and support to client staff on accounting practices and systems as needed.
Ad Hoc Projects:
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the client or accountancy firm.
- Assist with the integration of new acquisitions or the setup of new business ventures.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
- Professional certification (CA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and audit, preferably within an accountancy firm or similar environment.
- Experience working directly with clients and managing multiple client accounts is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong proficiency in accounting and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within diverse teams.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to confidentiality.
