Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting AP and AR tasks. This includes working with the General Ledger, Journal Entries, Bank Reconciliations, AP and AR aging schedule, resolving posting discrepancies, month-end closing, and maintenance of weekly/monthly standard reports.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify trends and provide insights into financial performance.
- Support the preparation of audit schedules and assist with external audits.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records including customer sales tax exemption certificates.
- Perform routine tasks like data entry and the processing of transactions in accounts payable and receivable.
- Perform month-end financial close responsibilities by generating monthly standard journal entries, generating appropriate accruals, and researching variances.
- Record weekly payroll journal entries.
- Calculate and process monthly sales and use tax.
- Maintain Prepaid Expense Schedule.
- Provide support for financial projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Effective time management and attention to detail with consistent accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts, accounting principles, and technical accounting standards.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Willingness and desire to learn new concepts and skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 2+ years of experience in financial accounting or related field.
