Job Summary:
The Senior Cost Accountant will play a key role in the financial operation of both Leigh Fibers and Revive Fiber. This position focuses on cost accounting, financial analysis, and sales analysis. The person in this position will be responsible for maintaining cost accounting systems, analytics and reporting, while also supporting budget and forecasting processes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Analyze inventory trends and develop reports for inventory movement, aging and categorizing
- Perform monthly closing activities including analysis of accounts and preparation of journal entries
- Analyze data discrepancies and implement changes when needed to improve processes
- Forecast and analyze variances and report on findings, analyze gross margin results, correct anomalies, identify trends, and communicate findings
- Establish and update standard costs rolling up raw material, freight, labor, transfer and overhead rates, and production efficiencies and thru-put
- Enter new products into ERP system including Product Master Maintenance, BOM, Value Added Cost
- Maintain inventory locations and G/L account hierarchy for inventory movements
- Reconcile GL balance sheet accounts for Receiving Accrual, Inventory, Reserves, Revenue Recognition and Capitalized Variance
- Provide financial support to ensure accurate inventory records to include key role in managing annual physical inventory & cycle count programs
- Provide support on month-end closing and ad-hoc projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of cost accounting experience required in a standard cost system, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Willingness to be out in the plants partnering with operations
- Great attention to detail
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business desired but not required
- Experience and aptitude working with ERP systems
- Strong in financial reporting to include intermediate skills using Excel with experience in Power BI a big plus
