Summary/Purpose
Coordinate and manage all activities related to safety; e.g. risk avoidance, training, compliance and reporting. This position will work with the guidance and support of the EHS Leader to coordinate and facilitate the safety activities at the Richland facility.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
- Administer Corporate Safety programs
- Manage Safety Guardian Committee and ensure compliance with all required training
- Schedule, track, and conduct all Safety Training
- Conduct routine safety and environmental inspections
- Acquire EHS Training and Certifications necessary to progress in job capabilities/responsibilities
- Conduct Corporate New Equipment Safety and Commissioning Process in conjunction with MESH guidance
- Provide safety support for plant systems (Fire Protection, Electrical Safety, Machine Safety Devices)
- Coordinate and manage First Responders, first aid supplies, and safety supplies
- Coordinate Ergonomic Analysis and Improvement Program
- Maintain compliance with all safety regulations & laws (OSHA, TOSHA, IATF16949, Federal, State & Local Laws)
- Coordinate all safety-reporting requirements (OSHA 300, ESH Scorecard, SPR)
- Drive incident investigation, root cause analysis, and reporting
- Design training simulations to be used with new associates to perform job tasks safely (DOJO)
- Lead cross-functional teams in job and area risk assessments
- Partner with Maintenance to audit LOTO practices
- Manage contractor security and define rounds and policy
- Maintain and improve contractor training program
- Maintain and improve fire risk control, maps, and policies
- Motivate supervisors to monitor and improve the safety of their areas of responsibility by tracking and communicating safety KPIs at leadership meetings
- Work with staff, supervisors, maintenance, and teams to develop solutions to identified safety risks or to resolve compliance issues
- Inspire associates to be engaged and involved in improving the safety of their work area
- Build and improve plant safety standards and policies (paint schemes, signage, instructions)
- Primary plant contact to corporate MESH team and Safety Coordinators at other plants
- Major team member during and following an OSHA visit or directive
- Develop and lead Safety Orientation for all new hires
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of OSHA and general industry safety
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Creativity in composing communication materials
- Ability to accomplish complicated tasks
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational skills; able to manage several tasks simultaneously
- Able to handle confidential information and maintain the highest level of legal and ethical standards
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with emphasis in Human Resource Management, Business Education, Operations Management, or technical field
- Previous experience/knowledge of training and safety programs in an industrial environment preferred

- Work will be performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- The performance of this position will require exposure to manufacturing areas, which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, and mandatory hearing protection.
