JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
Responsible for day-to-day terminal operations. Assures a safe and efficient working environment while meeting AMPORTS and customers’ expectations and best interests. Responsible for equipment maintenance and repairs, onsite safety contact, working with the safety coordinator in meeting company policies and guidelines in day-to-day operations. Works directly with customer service to accommodate customers' questions and concerns, including cargo inquiries, quotes, and terminal/shipping lines’ policy concerns.
Essential Functions
- Make sure all the equipment is okay (machines and gear)
- Manage customer relations.
- Assist with accidents and incidents investigations.
- Assure shipping line policies are being met.
- Cargo handling quotes.
- Direct, train and coach yard staff.
- Daily staffing of the ILA workforce.
- Good knowledge of cargo handling and rigging.
- Ability to mediate if conflict arises.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Must possess good mathematical skills.
- Must have experience with excavation, Ag, and other HH equipment.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has direct reports.
Physical Demands
Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative or production/technical nature. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach and handle items.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may require overtime.
Travel
Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Demonstrated use of intermediate computer operations (basic programming in 3rd and 4th generation languages, relational databases, and operating systems) and intermediate software packages (word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.).
Computer Operations
Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
Certifications
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be able to obtain TWIC badge (Transportation Working Identification Card).
