We are seeking a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT who can manage a large and diverse volume of responsibilities. This position will report to the Director of Finance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- General Accounting
- Ensure integrity of accounting information by reconciling various general ledger accounts monthly
- Analyze budget by comparing actual results to budget
- Assist in accounting for subsidiaries Lakeshore Jewish Funerals and Westlawn Cemetery
- Maintain Fixed Assets schedule
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare documentation for outside auditors
- Other duties as assigned
- Payroll
- Process bi-weekly and monthly payrolls through Paycor and oversee payroll tax reporting
- Maintain staff payroll records and benefit elections including health, dental and 401k plan
- Improve and monitor payroll systems by creating new procedures and reports
- Accounts Payable
- Review invoices for proper authorization and coding to process for payment
- Analyze spending trends and help to ensure cost efficiencies
- Maintenance and issuance of 1099’s and W9’s
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or equivalent
- Minimum two years of relevant accounting experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft office and expert Excel skills
- Attention to detail, accuracy, strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-volume environment
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skill; proficiency in English
- CPA certificate or working towards certification a plus
- Sage Intacct Accounting experience a plus
- Experience with Paycor payroll systems a plus
