Shift: Monday- Friday 8am- 4:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY:
Our Housing Solutions Center Navigator partners with social service organizations to provide care to homeless and low-income individuals, identify long-term housing solutions, and support households secure permanent housing. The Navigator will provide intake, assessment, referral and advocacy for persons who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Navigator will also be responsible for documenting information and services into the Homeless Information Management System (HMIS). They will establish and maintain effective partnerships with other area service providers and landlords.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meets with individuals who may be homeless to determine their emergency and/or permanent housing needs, screens individuals for program eligibility, and coordinates referrals with the appropriate housing providers.
- Identifies a households other primary housing barriers (employment, substance abuse, mental health, education, domestic violence, and health) and coordinates resource referrals for these services.
- Maintains complete and accurate client files and quality data into the HMIS data system.
- Assists the team in tracking and collecting and compiling client statistics and in the completion of program reports.
- Follows Agency policy and Confidentiality regarding clients.
- Is current on all community resources and assures all resource materials are updated in a timely manner.
- Participates in meeting, conferences, training sessions and workshops as assigned.
- Actively works towards FDS certification.
- Accepts other duties as assigned.
- Report to and accepts assignments from the Housing Solutions Center Supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED plus three years’ experience or AA plus one year experience.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Current auto liability insurance
- Ability to pass a Washington State Criminal Background Check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of the socio-economic problems and needs of homeless and low-income families and individuals
- Familiar with available community resources
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and database systems
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL FUNTIONS:
- Requires walking, reaching/stretching, intermittent sitting, twisting and bending.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to communicate with individuals, with a broad range of backgrounds and circumstances, in a positive and non-judgmental manner.
- Requires accuracy, good communication, judgment, and the ability to remain calm and provide appropriate advice and information.
