About the role
Murrumbidgee Irrigation is looking for a Legal Advisor to join our team. The purpose of this role is to provide professional legal support under the supervision of the Senior Legal Counsel and company Secretary.
In this role you will:
- Provide in-house legal support to management and staff including commercial contracts, company constitution, and customer contracts.
- Coordinate all aspects of MI property portfolio including development applications, sales, acquisitions, land management, leases, licenses and regular inspections.
- Responsible for developing, interpreting, reviewing and managing contracts on behalf of MI.
- Manage contractual arrangements made with customers through the debtors’ process in accordance with the Credit & Debt Policy, including monitoring deadlines for payment and organising the issuing of reminder notices.
- Investigate, process and report on land sales and purchases alongside managing MI lands and lease agreements.
What you will bring
- A minimum 12 months PQE with a current NSW practising certificate.
- Commercial experience (gained either in house or through private practice).
- Knowledge of water sector legislation, corporations’ law, and contracts law.
- Demonstrated experience in land transaction and management practices.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully implementing change management.
- Proficient in both written and verbal communication, with a proven track record of managing tasks independently and effectively managing time.
- Live in or be willing to relocate to the Griffith Area (or its surrounds).
- Have excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- A ‘can do’ attitude focused on delivering outcomes.
