What You Will Do:Guidehouse is building out increased actuarial capabilities into its provider/payer strategic consulting practice. Come join a dynamic senior actuary in launching this exciting new solution.
Managing Consultants are responsible for managing projects from cultivation to completion in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will manage the activities of the designated project team and support the day-to-day management of the client relationship. You are expected to effectively develop and manage project execution and planning, staffing, deadlines, and budgets and are expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Work products are expected to be high-quality and client-ready.
In this visible role, you will lead team meetings and guide, manage, and coach Consultants and Senior Consultants, providing constructive feedback on their project participation and overall career development. Managing Consultants work closely with Associate Directors, Directors, and Partners to keep them abreast of project progress and important developments as well as to integrate guidance and engagement recommendations. Managing Consultants take part in sales initiatives and Practice Development.
Our Managing Consultants have opportunities to support both Medicaid and Commercial clients. Projects will include actuarial modeling tasks such as developing healthcare projections, analyzing risk adjustment impacts, and designing and evaluating value-based contracts and other risk-sharing models for our clients.
As an actuarial managing consultant, you will ensure quality deliverables are created and validated in the following areas:
- Reviewing and supporting the development of cutting-edge alternative payment models (APMs), value-based payments (VBPs), and other pilot program models
- Capitation rate development
- Risk adjustment calculations of premium
- Development of budget projections
- Other ad hoc actuarial modeling, as needed
What You Will Need:Completion of at least
four actuarial exams, with intent and ability to progress to ASA or FSA.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Insurance, Mathematics, Risk Management, Statistics, or similar.
At least have
5 years of work experience including the following:
- Analysis and summarization of data using spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of actuarial and statistical modeling techniques
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
What Would Be Nice To Have:- Working knowledge of APM and/or VBP models in developing health claims projections
- Problem-solving abilities, critical thinking skills, and the ability to model from a blank sheet of paper rather than models previously developed.
- Knowledge of risk adjustment methodologies
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to draw complex conclusions from data.
- Knowledge of Business Analytics software such as PowerBI, Access, SAS or R, and/or SQL
- ASA or FSA designation
