Mental Health Practitioner - Cortland County Mental Health
This is professional psychiatric work permitting independent judgment. The Mental Health Practitioner provides clinical psychiatry in the team treatment of problems of affect and cognition among clients of the Mental Health Clinic. Provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations in assigned cases, and provides psychiatric consultation to clinic staff and others in the community (other agencies, public education, etc.). Does related work as required.
Work Hours : Full Time, 40 hours/week with benefits
Location : Cortland County Mental Health Department

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Either:
(a) Graduation from a medical school approved by the University of the State of New York, completion of an approved internship, three (3) years of an approved resident training in psychiatry and/or neurology AND possession of a license to practice medicine issued by the State of New York; OR
(b) Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and five (5) years’ experience as a licensed physician; OR
(c) Possession of a current license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State and possession of a current New York State certification as a Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in psychiatry.

Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
