Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Director - Anesthesia, the incumbent is responsible for:
- Patient Care - including the establishment of intravenous catheters, preparation of patients for surgery, and assisting the anesthetists in the operating room.
- Technical - including the pre‑testing, maintenance, repair, and monitoring of Anesthesia Machines, Nitronox Machines, Ventilators and accessory equipment.
Experience
- At least one (1) year previous experience in anesthesia/operating room (OR) or intensive care area required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Technology.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Must hold a current active practicing license with the Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists (MARRT).
- Registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) preferred.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
- Demonstrated ability to establish intravenous catheters.
- Basic knowledge of invasive and non-invasive monitors and working knowledge of anesthetic machines and related equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Manual dexterity with visual and aural acuity.
