Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is looking for a full-time Surgical Technologist.
As a part of the Baystate Surgical Service team, you will work in a state-of-the-art Level One trauma Center. Surgical Services at Baystate Health consist of two operating rooms: BMC inpatient OR and Chestnut Surgery Center. As a valuable member of the patient care team, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team providing your expertise and knowledge while adapting to a variety of procedures.
Locations include: (openings subject to change)
BMC Inpatient OR: 24 new and modern operating rooms
Chestnut (Day Surgery) OR: 12 operating rooms
Labor and Delivery
With regional sites at Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield MA, Noble Hospital in Westfield MA, and Wing Hospital in Palmer MA
SCHEDULE:
- 36/40 hours; shift; days, nights, mid-shift
- Call required
LOCATION:
- BMC Campus
- Springfield MA
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Unit Manager, RN Clinical Operations Coordinator, and RN Service Leads, the Surgical Technologist works directly under surgeon/physician guidance to facilitate safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.
The Surgical Technologist must possess expertise in aseptic technique; demonstrate the ability to combine knowledge of human anatomy, surgical processes, and procedures including instrumentation and advancing technologies. You will anticipate the needs of the surgeons/physicians by constant attention and assessment of the surgical process and patient condition to promote a safe, expedient, quality surgical outcome.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position is part of a career ladder and level will be determined by the organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the minimally required education and/or experience listed.
Tech I
- Associates of Science in ST or program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education Association or completed a structured training program and hold a professional equivalent
- AST Certification*
- CPR-American Heart Association BLS
Tech II
- Associates of Science in ST or program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education Association or completed a structured training program and hold a professional equivalent
- AST Certification*
- Minimum of 2 years experience. 1-year employment at BMC or 2 years of comparable experience and attainment of competency on completion of orientation.
- CPR-American Heart Association BLS
Tech III
- Associates of Science in ST or program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education Association or completed a structured training program and hold a professional equivalent
- AST Certification*
- Minimum of 4 years experience. 1 year of employment at Baystate Health
- CPR-American Heart Association BLS
