The Sr. Healthcare Data Analyst collaborates with stakeholder partners in performing analysis for the purpose of explaining key business drivers, analyzing medical cost trends, and finding opportunities to enhance value for SONE’s members. As part of the Medical Economics team, s/he will be responsible for providing analysis and reporting related to quality, incentives, and cost, utilization, and trend drivers for SONE’s value-based contracts, which span across the commercial, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid lines of business, as well as the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP).
This role is located at the company's headquarters in Windsor, CT, and operates in a semi-virtual environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance existing processes, and process documentation.
- Manipulate data sets, report information from reporting tools, and other sources to develop analytics and reports that explain business performance and identify opportunities to enhance the value of medical care for SONE’s members.
- Work with finance to develop forecasts and financial impact estimates due to savings initiatives, industry/regulatory, and other events (e.g., COVID).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Medical Economics Analyst Essential Skills:
- General knowledge of health plan/insurance and/or CMS membership and healthcare claims data.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and SQL.
- Experience with performing trend and cost of care analysis particularly in a health economics/informatics, or actuarial environment.
- Ability to solve complex problems and work independently.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Experience:
- Programming languages such as VBA, R, and Python.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience with value-based care analytics, quality metrics, and alternative payment models, particularly the Medicare Shared Savings Program.
- Experience developing and automating reporting processes.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required in analytics related field with 3 to 5 years of experience, preferably in a payer/provider setting.

- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Frequently is required to walk and sit.
- Occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- The dexterity necessary to utilize a computer keyboard on a regular basis is essential.
