Job Summary:
Plans, manages, mentors, and supervises activities and personnel within the Surgical Services Department. Plans and evaluates the operations of patient care delivery within the pre-operative, intraoperative, postoperative, sterile processing, and infusion clinic areas. Provides leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and department goals and objectives to provide a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Organizes patient care and ensures continuity of care through direct and indirect supervision of department operations.
Skills and Abilities:
Broad knowledge of nursing principles and practices, CMS guidelines, and patient care management. Seeks knowledge of management principles and practices, conflict resolution, staff development, budget development and monitoring methods, and quality management and evaluation techniques. Demonstrates leadership and management capabilities and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Over three (3) years of experience in management or leadership in a hospital setting, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.
Education and Experience:
REQUIRED: Over three (3) years of experience in nursing supervision or leadership, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties. Possession of a current Registered Nurse license within the State of Oregon, or ability to acquire by the time of appointment. License must be in good standing. Possession of current BLS certification. Computer Literacy with ability to learn and apply basic computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending e-mail messages.
DESIRABLE LICENSE/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing or enrolled in an accredited course upon hire. Experience in Sterile Processing and/or in chemotherapy infusion. Procession of a current AORN certification.
