Summary: The Director leads the water and wastewater practice including business development activities, managing a team of professionals, and directing water/wastewater projects for the North Texas region. The priorities for this position include strategic planning, product design, quality assurance, and problem resolution. The Director must execute product design to meet company objectives, collaborate with management, and develop systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards.
General Responsibilities:
- Building relationships and growing the water/wastewater business in the public sector.
- Develop intermediate and long-range strategic planning for the water/wastewater practice.
- Lead business development activities by marketing to existing clients as well as identifying and marketing to new clients.
- Support technical efforts for business development such as preparation of responses to RFPs and SOQs, the preparation for presentations, and interfacing/coordinating the efforts of the office.
- Responsible for the quality assurance program for project deliverables within the practice.
- Manage the project team’s performance on assigned projects.
- Provide expertise in collaborative delivery methodologies to internal and external clients.
- Conduct needs analyses and client value surveys to align the engineering discipline’s function with business and project strategy, identifying and addressing any skill gaps or risks within the water/wastewater business operations.
- Serve as the discipline’s lead representative to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, industry-related groups, and various government and community entities.
- Responsible for management of a group providing water/wastewater expertise to both public and private projects.
- Prepare reports for and advise senior management regularly regarding the activities of the practice.
- Participate in quarterly Operations Meetings with Sector Leaders, the President, and the Business Solutions team.
- Actively participate in professional associations and civic organizations within the community.
Required Education/Licenses:
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
- Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
Required Experience:
- 10 years of experience as a practice leader and business developer.
- 15 years of experience in public infrastructure planning & design.
- Experience in the North Texas region.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
