Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal Engineer / Sr Principal Engineer based out of Salt Lake City, UT.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous improvement activities throughout the Advanced Electronics & Avionics factory by utilizing Statistical Process Controls (SPC) and data tools to drive yield and cost improvements.
- Perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities using common six-sigma tools.
- Prepare and present manufacturing and test data in support of weekly and monthly action focused reviews.
- Development of new digital dashboards and queries using SQL and/or Tableau.
- Maintain existing Tableau dashboards.
- Reliability analysis and authoring of engineering white papers as required.
- Lead a variety of technical projects within the electronics factory.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer:
- Bachelors in STEM related field with 5 years of experience; Masters with 3 years of experience; PhD 0 years of experience.
- Able to collaborate in a team environment and negotiate and integrate different viewpoints.
- Able to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project results.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and parts lists.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project).
- Experience with Tableau or SQL database development or similar.
- Experience using Lean/six-sigma tools.
- Demonstrated experience in leading technical projects and teams.
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Engineer:
- Bachelors in STEM related field with 9 years of experience; Masters with 7 years of experience; PhD 4 years of experience.
- Able to collaborate in a team environment and negotiate and integrate different viewpoints.
- Able to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project results.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and parts lists.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project).
- Experience with Tableau or SQL database development or similar.
- Experience using Lean/six-sigma tools.
- Demonstrated experience in leading technical projects and teams.
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with electronic circuit card assembly manufacturing.
- Tableau Certifications (Data Analyst, Desktop or Server) and extensive experience.
- Advanced data manipulation and analysis experience.
- SAP experience.
- IPC Standards/J-STD-001 certification.
- Lean/6-sigma Green or Blackbelt certification.
- Project management skills (work breakdown, task planning, scheduling, performance tracking).
- Secret Clearance.
Salary Range: $84,200 - $126,400
Salary Range 2: $104,400 - $156,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
