Job Description
The goal of the Buckley lab is to utilize genomic and proteomic approaches in normal and malignant hematopoietic cells as well as mouse models to study molecular mechanisms regulating cell fate decisions. Our research specifically focuses on studying posttranslational modifications by ubiquitin E3 ligases in self-renewal, differentiation, and transformation in leukemia and lymphoma.
Relevant experience could include molecular biology, tissue culture of both primary cells and cell lines, mass spectrometry including quantitative proteomics, ubiquitination assays, flow cytometry, and/or mouse models of leukemia and lymphoma. Must have hands-on experience with rodents (handling, various dosing techniques, tissue collection).

Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively to assist postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students with research projects
- Perform a variety of laboratory experiments using both routine and special techniques, including:
- Molecular biology procedures such as DNA purification, PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, immunoprecipitation, and Western blotting
- Cell culture
- Mouse colony management, breeding, and genotyping
- Perform animal studies in mice. Tasks include drug administration via multiple routes (IV, IP, SC, PO, etc), bone marrow transplantation, and blood and tissue collection.
- Routine histology, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence
- Flow cytometry analysis
- Collect, record, and analyze data
- Assist in the training of others
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate scientific discipline or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus four years of related full-time laboratory experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Preferences
- Bachelor’s in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Biology with equivalent experience
- Strong background in use of animal models; Working knowledge of animal husbandry procedures and able to perform in vivo studies
- 5+ years’ experience working in a laboratory setting
- Works well independently and in a team
