The position of Senior Facilities Engineer is within our Cardiometabolic business unit located in San Diego, California. This role maintains facilities, facilities systems, and equipment to provide a safe, efficient, and comfortable workplace. Responsibilities include training the facilities team in operation, repair, and preventative maintenance of all building facilities and equipment; moving and installation of equipment and or furniture; and other related duties. Expert level only: Provides validation technical assistance to engineering to support manufacturing efforts by implementing corrective and preventative actions. Assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve Facilities processes. Assists in the execution of facility and utility validations.
What You’ll Work On:
Inspection and Assessment:
- Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine necessary installations, repairs, and maintenance to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
Planning and Coordination:
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and the Facilities Shop for project requirements, planning, and installation, ensuring minimal process downtime and alignment with the manufacturing schedule.
- Collaborate closely with different functional groups/trades in the Facilities Shop to define the scope of work, budget, and schedule for precise execution.
- Communicate effectively with external engineering consultants, vendors, and contractors.
Communication and Interaction:
- Interact extensively with all functional managers and operating department managers across the site.
- Clearly communicate and ensure understanding of all operating conditions and environmental specifications required for GMP by all concerned parties.
- Participate in new facility design teams to provide validation and facilities technical input.
Technical Expertise:
- Possess knowledge of multiple construction trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, sheet metal fabrication, welding, construction, repair, and/or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs, or office fixtures.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, and drawings, and review design specifications.
Project Execution:
- Work with outside contractors on new construction, equipment installation, and selection of equipment.
- Coordinate detailed planning and implementation of projects, interacting with all levels from supervisory to non-exempt personnel.
- Test, inspect, troubleshoot equipment installations, and report problems to supervisors or project managers.
Process Improvement:
- Develop and implement process improvements by researching and validating changes in process equipment and test methods to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time per established procedures.
- Provide input for engineering qualification, validation studies, reports, and procedures, including data collection, compilation, measurement, organization, and recording.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience ± 7 years.

The base pay for this position is $83,600.00 – $167,200.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
