Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Project Manager Engineer, we'll count on you to:
- Manage and lead multi-discipline project design teams including subconsultants.
- Plan, direct and monitor all aspects multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity.
- Prepare and/or review civil engineering scope of work and fee estimates for proposals.
- Track and manage project budgets and scope of work.
- Schedule and coordinate work performed by design teams to achieve project objectives.
- Communicate with staff and subconsultants to establish work priorities and schedules for the project.
- Oversee and supervise two or more projects and project teams concurrently that are producing and coordinating project deliverables.
- Supervise and mentor staff, and provide new employee mentoring, as needed.
- Work with direct reports to establish annual goals and conduct employee performance reviews.
- Schedule and conduct meetings with project teams to discuss productivity, work load, and quality control issues.
- Advance the skill level of personnel through training, education, experience, etc.
- Coordinate with other project managers and supervisors throughout HDR to review project workload, status, and staffing requirements.
- Perform quality control reviews of civil design projects.
- Perform project engineer duties when required.
- Collaborate with Area Water Business Group Manager and Client Development Leader to identify upcoming pursuits, lead pursuit teams, lean annual qualification solicitations, and perform other business development and marketing activities as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of science degree in Engineering. Civil Engineering degree preferred.
- Professional Engineering License (PE). Hawaii license preferred or the ability to obtain a Hawaii license through reciprocity.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Civil Engineering or managing projects.
- Experience performing or managing Civil Engineering design including preparing design calculations, plans, specifications, and estimates of construction cost.
- Ability to interact with various design teams, marketing staff, and operations staff, and have excellent organizational, project management, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated business development and strategic planning skills. Ability to analyze the market and strategically position HDR.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat or Blue Beam.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- PMP.
- Active in one or more professional engineering organizations.
- Oahu and Maui based candidates preferred. Kauai, and Big Island candidates are also encouraged to apply.

The expected compensation range for this position is $106,795.50 - $152,565.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
