Position Overview
The VP Performance is responsible for working with the leadership of the individual OpCos within Northeast Division of Americas Materials to drive operational and commercial performance improvement. The individual is an internal consultant and project manager focused on enabling each company to share and leverage leading practices, execute against agreed upon business improvement strategies, and realize near to mid-term financial results. This is very much a self-directed role, where a successful VP Performance will proactively identify opportunities and help address them directly working with OpCo teams. The successful candidate will possess a strong balance of strategic thinking, business and financial acumen, operational orientation, influence, and change management skills. Position can be based out hub locations in our Northeast Division.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Facilitate business improvement by aligning the OpCo Presidents with National and Division Performance priorities across each line of business.
- Work across lines of business, including Aggregates, Asphalt, Construction, Ready Mix, and Transportation to identify Commercial and Operational improvement opportunities and work directly to implement improvement programs and methodologies.
- Communicate results and share lessons learned across the division to build buy-in and excitement.
- Identify and document Leading Practices existing in the business and as-developed by Performance Improvement Teams. Support and guide implementation of these Leading Practices and follow-up to ensure success.
- Support the Division Performance Committees to ensure effective adoption of Leading Practices across the division.
- Manage individual projects as assigned or self-identified, ensure progress against targeted metrics and communicated progress.
- Interface regularly and develop/nurture strong relationships with all levels of leadership within the Northeast Division.
- As directed, serve on the relevant National Performance Committee, national or divisional ad-hoc committees, and serve as the communications conduit between AMAT/Division and the OpCos.
- Assist, as needed, in acquisition integration/greenfield activities, training of key personnel on Performance tools and assist in the supervisor on-boarding activities in assigned OpCos.
- Assist in the consolidation, review and analysis of Daily/Weekly/Monthly Scorecards to identify issues and communicate findings to OpCo leadership.
- Guide, support and consolidate target setting, tracking and reporting activities.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor of Science, Business or related degree or the equivalent in relevant experience.
- Five or more (5+) years of business, analytical, operational or related experience.
- Experience working with analytical tools and using and implementing technology-based solutions.
- Ability to understand, document and implement business processes.
- Experience in the relevant line of business preferred but a strong understanding of operations is essential.

- Thorough understanding of financial and operational management and the practical organizational dynamics that impact the results of change efforts.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
